Religious Education at St. Martin's
St. Martin of Tours offers Sunday religious education following a regular school year schedule. In these classes for grades K-12, the youth of the Shrine are prepared to live out their Faith in their everyday lives and are provided the knowledge required to worthily receive the sacraments.
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine
Initiated in 1905 by Pope Pius X, the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, also known as CCD, serves to supplement religious education for all children of a diocese. It is the oldest formalized faith-formation initiative in the nation, and St. Martin of Tours is proud to offer classes for every grade, K-12. As instructed by Church tradition, we believe parents are called to be the primary educators of children. Our teachers are largely composed of lifelong members of the Shrine, whose dedication to the Faith in their daily lives directly translates to the instruction freely offered on Sundays. We offer first confessions and First Holy Communion preparation for our second grade class on a yearly basis, and Confirmation preparation over a two year program for grades 7-8. We invite you to consider enrolling your children in CCD, and to help support this initiative that bolsters the integrity of this Shrine community.
